Our vision is to
capture the Legacy of the Showgirl and production shows for which Nevada
is world famous. The project connects the visual and performing arts with
a stunning combination of Arts and Costumes that reflect the magic and
history of this marvelous era. Timeless and everlasting.
The Art Competition is an
extension of the third Annual Cast and Crew Reunion, the first Cast and Crew
Reunion was held at the Stardust Hotel and Casino in September 2006. Six hundred
and fifty performers and entertainers gathered together to celebrate five
decades of entertainment and the rich history that is the soul of our city. The
2008 Las Vegas Showgirl Art Competition will award $1,000 in prizes, it
will be promoted locally through the schools and in the arts community in both
Las Vegas and Reno. The artwork of the top 25-35 artists will be on display for
the second year at the Nevada Historical Society June 27-August 1, and both
southern and northern Barnes and Noble. It will also be displayed at the third
Annual Cast and Crew Reunion in October of 2008. The 2007 Artwork continues to
travel and will be on display at the Primm outlet Mall February 25, Presidents
day weekend with a fashion show of gowns and costumes from the production shows.
The 2008
Las Vegas Showgirl Art Competition will begin January 1, and the artist
participation continues to grow. We need your continued support to make
out second year even bigger and better.
